Euralimentaire : Driving Innovation in FoodTech and Sustainable Food Systems

As one of the five metropolitan sites of excellence developed by Lille Metropole, Euralimentaire embodies the region’s ambition to accelerate innovation & economic transformation in strategic sectors.

As one of the five metropolitan sites of excellence developed by Lille Metropole, Euralimentaire embodies the region’s ambition to accelerate innovation and economic transformation in strategic sectors. The most recent of these excellence hubs, Euralimentaire is dedicated to fresh, local and seasonal produce, positioning food as both an economic driver and a lever for ecological and social transition.

Inaugurated in 2019, Euralimentaire builds upon the historic wholesale market of Lomme (Lille), created in 1972 and today the largest wholesale market for fruit, vegetables and flowers in France after Rungis International Market. By strengthening the food vocation of this strategic site, Euralimentaire has become a reference actor for the development of the entire regional food value chain — from producers and logistics operators to retailers, restaurateurs, researchers and entrepreneurs.

A Catalyst for Entrepreneurial Growth

The Euralimentaire incubator and accelerator has supported more than 80 projects, leading to the creation of over 45 companies and more than 2,000 jobs. In 2025, 40 projects are being actively supported, reflecting the site’s sustained momentum and attractiveness.

Euralimentaire offers three tailored support programmes adapted to the maturity of each project:

  • Food Start: a collective programme designed to de-risk projects, strengthen innovation potential and help entrepreneurs develop a robust business plan.

  • Food Incubation: individualised support to structure, test and deploy innovative start-ups, including access to expert advice, mentoring and a dedicated digital ecosystem.

  • Food Acceleration: targeted support for high-potential FoodTech start-ups seeking proof of concept or seed funding, with tailored strategic guidance and networking opportunities.

This structured pathway enables entrepreneurs, researchers and SMEs to transform innovative ideas into viable businesses, while anchoring them within a strong metropolitan ecosystem.

Strategic Areas of Expertise

Euralimentaire operates at the intersection of innovation, sustainability and health through five main areas of action:

  • FoodTech: development of new food products and ingredients, plant-based and alternative proteins, pet food and feed innovations.

  • Sustainable Food Systems: reduction of food waste, promotion of local sourcing, reuse solutions, valorisation of co-products and plant-forward diets.

  • Nutrition & Health: improving the health impact of food through scientific and technological innovation.

  • Digital Food: personalised nutrition, e-commerce solutions and digital tools for food professionals.

  • Retail & Supply Chain: new in-store and restaurant services, robotics in preparation and delivery, and the digitalisation of logistics platforms.

By fostering synergies between these fields, Euralimentaire supports systemic innovation across the food chain — from production to consumption.
