Presentation of Lille Metropole's candidacy in Brussels

The third of December Lille Metropole hosted in its Brussels representation a 3rd event to promote our candidacy to welcome the future European Customs Authority (EUCA).

The third of December Lille Metropole hosted in its Brussels representation a 3rd event to promote our candidacy to welcome the future European Customs Authority (EUCA).

This moment showcased France, Lille Metropole’s and our Regional and local partners shared ambition: to offer Europe a strong, strategic and immediately operational proposal, rooted in a cross-border territory that embodies openness, connectivity and European cooperation.

With the AGORA building already available and ideally located in the heart of Euralille, our candidacy stands on solid foundations. But Lille Metropole’s strengths extend far beyond a building.

Lille Metropole stands out thanks to:

  • its strategic location at the crossroads of Europe
  • exceptional connectivity to five major capitals within 300 km
  • high-quality infrastructures
  • a dynamic and innovative ecosystem
  • an excellent living environment with international schools, top healthcare facilities, rich cultural institutions and a family-friendly setting

Co-organised with the Direction générale des douanes et droits indirects (DGDDI), we were honored to welcome Laurent Saint-Martin, Former Minister for Public Accounts and trade representative for the French candidacy, who expressed the full support of France since several years for the EUCA and all the strategic assets of Lille Metropole to hosts this new authority.

Matthieu CORBILLON, Ludovic Grousset, François Collet, François Navarro and Juliette CHARPIN gave an inspiring overview of the quality of life in our beautiful and dynamic metropole by showcasing all there is to experience in terms of sport, culture, gastronomy & festivals.

Lille Metropole has the experience, the credibility and the European commitment needed to host a major EU institution.
