This is a 90 minutes workshop organized by the SURE-Eurodelta Network, to be held on Thursday, October 14, 2021 from 11:30 AM to 1 PM. The workshop will debate on the role of megaregions in addressing challenges and impacts and in achieving green transition plans, especially the sustainable transport infrastructures and mobility. The Eurodelta area includes around 50 million people from the urban regions of the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and Northern France. This megaregion is key to implement the more “local” component of the European Green Deal and achieve EU ambitions to become a neutral-climate continent, also addressing to the New European Bauhaus agenda.
The workshop by the SURE-Eurodelta Network will focus on presenting concrete spatial and policy-oriented actions, especially in the field of sustainable transport infrastructures and mobility. The SURE partners from four countries will showcase their best practices in response to the European Green Deal.
Additionally, the outcomes and recommendations from the ESPON STISE research as well as the bright ideas from the Eurodelta Knowledge Platform will be presented. During this session, a discussion on the added value for the European nations and other megaregions, to support cross-border cooperation, will be launched.
In the workshop, various stakeholders including Edouard Fleury, European cooperation officer from Lille Metropole will address the challenges and potential impact of green transition plans and explore pathways to create a sustainable, green, just and productive delta region.
