Eurasanté – accelerating Health innovation at the Heart of Europe
Located in south of the Lille metropole, Eurasanté is one of Europe’s most established health innovation hubs and a cornerstone of regional development in life sciences, healthcare and nutrition. Created on the initiative of the CHU (University hospitals) de Lille, Eurasanté was designed as a bridge between universities, hospitals, research laboratories and the business world — turning scientific excellence into concrete solutions for patients and society.
Today, Eurasanté operates as a specialised economic development agency, an incubator and accelerator, and a catalyst for collaboration across the entire health–nutrition value chain.
From biotech and medtech to digital health, nutrition, healthy ageing and sport-health, Eurasanté supports entrepreneurs and researchers at every stage — from early scientific validation to market deployment.
Its method is simple yet powerful: identify promising research, assess its industrial potential, and guide teams towards either entrepreneurship or strategic partnerships with industry. Health professionals play a central role in this process. As they work directly with patients, they help innovators test real-world relevance, refine use cases and ensure that new technologies genuinely improve care pathways.
Influential innovation hub at national and European level
Eurasanté ecosystem interacts with over 50 research laboratories, 4 universities, 12 hospitals and specialised clinical centres, and 1,800 researchers, working on major public health challenges such as cancer, cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, neuroscience, immunology, infectious and inflammatory diseases, as well as digital health and medical imaging.
Eurasanté structures its innovation support around four specialised incubator–accelerator campuses, each dedicated to a strategic sector within health and nutrition:
1) Parc Eurasanté, dedicated to cutting-edge activities in the healthcare sector, located at the heart of Europe’s largest university hospital campus.
2) The Euralimentaire campus of excellence, dedicated to fresh, local produce and logistics at the heart of the Lomme wholesale market (see specific article in this newsletter).
3) The Vivalley Campus, dedicated to “Sport – Health & Well-being”, designed to stimulate innovation at the intersection of physical activity, prevention and performance.
4) The Eurasenior campus, the first Silver Economy incubator-accelerator in Europe, dedicated to the development of innovative solutions for ageing well in the Hauts-de-France region.
Supporting Innovators from Lab to Market
For over 30 years, Eurasanté has pursued a clear mission: to turn knowledge into impact. Its activities are structured around several strategic pillars:
Valuing research through technology transfer and collaborative projects
Stimulating company creation via four specialised incubator–accelerators (health, foodtech, silver economy and sport-health)
Supporting growth with tailored business, scientific and regulatory expertise
Promoting the territory internationally to attract investment and talent
Animating the sector by creating spaces for exchange, networking and cooperation
Boosting innovation through calls for projects and pilot initiatives focused on citizen health
Why Eurasanté matters for Europe
Through programmes including Interreg, Horizon Europe and Erasmus+, Eurasanté collaborates with more than 126 partners in 22 European countries, firmly anchoring Lille Metropole in cross-border industrial and research projects.
Eurasanté perfectly illustrates how local ecosystems can contribute to European priorities. By fostering innovation in healthcare, nutrition and wellbeing, it supports the EU’s objectives on public health, strategic autonomy, digital transformation and sustainable growth.
Its model reflects core European values: cooperation across borders and disciplines, evidence-based innovation, social impact, and equal access to quality healthcare.
